“On Dwelling: Shelters in Place and Time,” the 2022 Bechtel Lecture at Conrad Grebel University College, is now available on video. This lecture considers what it means to shelter in place, not just in terms of emergency management, but as a deliberate practice with ethical and ecological effects. Along the way, I talk about Rilke, fracking, Zoom events, riding on Amtrak, and the nineteenth-century diaries of a Mennonite bishop. Watch it here.
